Description

Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane announced that on June 28, 2024, Deputy County Attorney Anthony Garcia was awarded the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) statewide Hero Award.

Yavapai County, Attorney, Anthony Garcia, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Hero Award, MADD, drunk driving, award, Arizona,

Antony Garcia, Deputy Yavapai County Attorney.

The award was presented to Mr. Garcia by MADD during their 35th annual meeting in Phoenix, Arizona

Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane stated, “Tony came to my office about nine months ago after a long career as a federal law enforcement officer. Tony’s legal skills and exemplary work ethic have impressed everyone he comes into contact with, including judges, victims, law enforcement officers, and even defense counsel. I am thrilled that out of all of the prosecutors in the State of Arizona, Tony’s excellence in prosecuting drunk drivers was recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.”

“To anyone thinking they can “take the risk” of driving after drinking, please think again. Your risky choice endangers not only yourself but families and everyone else who share the roads. Call a cab or arrange for a ride, because if you drive drunk in Yavapai County, you will be aggressively prosecuted and you will serve jail time.”

The MADD Hero Award was established to honor law enforcement officers, first responders, and court personnel who diligently work to support MADD’s mission to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking

Mr. Garcia has demonstrated a determination to uphold this shared mission when he is prosecuting cases that involve individuals accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Mr. Garcia will often seek the maximum penalty allowed under the law and has expressed he is doing so because the individual is posing a danger to themselves and the rest of the community.
